About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Multiunit, a company based in Ontario, Canada, uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.

What cookies and local storage are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores in your browser. It is sent back to the website on later visits, which lets the site recognize your browser, for example to keep you signed in.

Local storage is a feature of your browser that lets a website store small amounts of information on your device. Unlike cookies, it is not sent to the website automatically with each request. We use it to remember display settings and similar preferences on your device.

Some cookies are set by us. Others may be set by service providers acting for us. Some last only until you close your browser (session cookies). Others last for a set period (persistent cookies).

Categories we use

Strictly necessary

These are needed for the site to work and to keep it secure. They cannot be switched off in our cookie settings. They include:

  • Security tokens that protect forms against misuse
  • Sign-in session cookies that keep members signed in
  • The cookie that remembers your cookie choices

Preferences

These remember choices you make so the site works the way you prefer. They include:

  • Display settings, such as text size, theme and motion, stored in your browser’s local storage
  • A reference to your chat conversation, so you can return to it
  • A note that you closed the resource offer, so it is not shown again for a while

These items stay on your device. The chat conversation reference identifies a conversation; the conversation itself is stored by us as described in our Privacy Policy.

Analytics

Analytics help us understand, in aggregate, how the site is used, so we can improve it. We use analytics only if you allow it. Where possible, we use a cookieless, privacy-focused analytics service. We never send the contents of forms to an analytics service.

Marketing

We do not use marketing cookies at launch. If we add them in future, we will use them only with your consent and will update this policy first.

Security tokens for forms may also be set as part of normal form handling. If we add an analytics service that uses cookies or storage, we will list it in this table before it is used.

Changing your choices

You can change your choices at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer of every page. Your new choices apply from that point. If you withdraw consent for a category, we stop using it, and you can also clear existing items through your browser.

Controlling cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and local storage. These controls are usually found in the browser’s settings under privacy or site data. You can typically:

  • See which cookies and site data are stored, and delete them
  • Block cookies from some or all sites
  • Clear all site data when you close the browser

If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the site, such as signing in and submitting forms, will not work. Clearing local storage resets your display settings and removes the chat conversation reference from your device.

Quebec residents

In line with Quebec’s Law 25, non-essential categories are off until you turn them on. Only strictly necessary cookies are active by default. We apply the same default for all visitors.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when we change the technologies we use. We will change the effective date at the top and, where a change affects your choices, ask you again.
